Custom Orthotic Fitting

Orthotics (also known as orthotic insoles, shoe inserts, or orthoses) are custom made devices that replace the insole of your shoes with the purpose of correcting foot function. Many complaints such as heel pain, knee pain and lower back pain can be treated by the use of orthotics.

How can orthotics help my feet?
Orthotics realign the feet and ankles in order to correct over pronation (also known as flat feet or rolled ankles). Orthotics also facilitate a more even weight distribution across the sole of the foot, removing pressure from common problem areas (e.g. the heels, the ball of the foot, corns in between toes, and bunions).
Do I need orthotics?

If you have heel, ankle, knee or lower back pain that is made worse by extended periods of standing, then it is likely that you will benefit from the use of orthotics. Many people, especially children, will not experience any of the symptoms associated with over pronation until an injury occurs, or through degradation of foot function over time. A qualified professional can analyze your need for orthotics before injury occurs.

What is involved in an orthotic fitting?

If it is determined that you will benefit from orthotics, and you wish to go ahead with the treatment, then a fitting session will be booked at your convenience. In this session your feet will be cast in order to custom fit your orthotics. Approximately one week after your fitting appointment you will be able to pick up your new orthotics.
