Our trainers are often asked, “how do I get the most out of my training?” One of the best ways to get the most out of your training is to push your body out of its comfort zone — nothing to the point of pain but definitely something that challenges you physically and mentally.
One way to accomplish this is to ensure you are fully in control of your body’s movement with each exercise instead of letting gravity do its work. As an example, consider lifting weights: don’t simply let the weight drop back down as you lower it but control your arm and the speed in which you lower the weight. Not only will controlling the motion of lowering the weight ensure you are gaining all of the strength benefits of a particular exercise, but by ensuring you are in full control you will also avoid unnecessary strains and injuries.
