Over the years Body & Soul has supported several different organizations, charities, fundraisers, athletes and local schools. Following is a list of some of the events and charities to which Body & Soul has provided donations and support.
Special Olympics Vancouver
The Canadian Liver Foundation
The Canadian Liver Foundation held their 4th Annual What a Girl Wants event in April of 2012, in which Body & Soul donated a gift certificate for two health assessments and 2 partner training sessions. Funds raised at this event went towards their mission to reduce the incidence and impact of all liver diseases.
For Western Front‘s yearly Anniversary Gala Dinner and Auction, Body & Soul donated two health assessments and two partner training sessions. The Western Front was founded in 1973 by eight artists who wanted to create a space for the exploration and creation of new art forms; it is one of Canada’s first artist-run-centres.
Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce
In February, the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce held their 8th Annual Westside Business Awards. This prestigious annual event brings together and celebrates the achievements of local businesses. Body & Soul donated items for the Gala’s silent auction.
Children's Heart Network
Body & Soul donated three small group personal training sessions to the Children’s Heart Network’s 10th Annual Wine Gala. The Children’s Heart Network supports over 500 families in BC that have children growing up with heart disease. Funds raised at this event went towards providing support and education for these kids and their parents.
Vancouver International Fringe Festival
Body & Soul donated personal training sessions to the Fringe Festival‘s Opening Night fundraiser, the event raised over $28,000. The Vancouver International Fringe Festival exists to celebrate theatre and create opportunities for performing artists and audiences. Funds raised went towards increasing artist development through various projects, site expansion and much more.
PALS Autism School
Body & Soul donated items to the PALS Autism School‘s Imagine Gala, A Passage to Persia. This event raised over $200,000. The PALS Autism School, supporting students with varying levels of ability, provides year-round schooling and programming using effective and scientifically validated instruction, based on the principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis. They strive to maximize the development of each student’s communication and language, social, academic and life/independence skills.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
In December of 2011, Body & Soul worked with clients to collect items for The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Each year the BC SPCA takes in approximately 34,000 animals that have been neglected, abused or abandoned. As many of our clients and staff have opened their home to a variety of animals over the years, support for this cause was outstanding.
Covenant House Vancouver
Covenant House Vancouver held a Christmas Backpacks initiative in which items collected were put together to make up individual backpack gifts for Vancouver’s youth who, if it weren’t for the Covenant House shelter, would be living on Vancouver streets after fleeing abusive and violent conditions. The Body & Soul team, clients and staff, collected a number of items that were donated to Covenant House in December of 2011.
Canuck Place Children's Hospice
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to Canuck Place’s event, the Gift of Time Gala. Canuck Place Children’s Hospice seeks to provide comfort and care to over 400 B.C. children and teenagers suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Funds raised at this event ensured the continuation of services and programs provided to these individuals and their families. This event also helped raise money towards the construction of a new hospice in Abbotsford.
Canucks for Kids Fund
Body & Soul donated items for the The Canucks for Kids Fund 10th Annual Hockeywood Dice & Ice Benefit. Proceeds from this event were granted to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation for the Centre for Research in Childhood Diabetes. The event raised over $250,000.
Special Olympics Vancouver
Special Olympics Vancouver provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to become productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. On June 11th, Body & Soul supported the Special Olympics Vancouver’s 2nd Annual Walkathon at Jericho Beach by providing items for their raffle and leading a fun, interactive and energetic warm-up. The athletes and their families raised approximately $7,000.
Variety - The Children's Charity
Variety: The Children’s Charity assists families with funding for things such as specialized equipment, medicine and therapies, as well as accommodation and travel costs associated with a child’s out-of-town medical care. Body & Soul donated auction items to their 28th and 29th Annual Variety Auction Events.
Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver
The Jewish Community Centre’s Sports Dinner event helped raise funds to assist families in need; provide financial assistance for children to attend camp, day care and sports programs; and to fund seniors’ programs to assist with daily living and physical rehabilitation. Body & Soul donated auction items to the event, and with approximately 800 guests attending, they grossed over $300,000: surpassing their 2011 goal.
Chicks with Sticks
Chicks with Sticks raised over $30,000 at their auction, with proceeds going towards Kids Help Phone. This money went towards helping kids in Greater Vancouver, and across Canada, receive professional counselling by phone any day, anytime. Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to their auction.
Auxiliary to BC Children's Hospital
Body & Soul was also pleased to support the Auxiliary’s 2006 Silent Auction. The event raised $10,000, which will be used to support BC Children’s Hospital with the purchase of much-needed equipment, recreation and therapy programs and pediatric based research projects.
Vancouver Board of Trade
Body & Soul donated a gift certificate for 5 personal training sessions to theVancouver Board of Trade’s 24th annual Governors’ Banquet.
St. Georges School
In 2010, Body & Soul donated items to the St. George’s Invitational Swim Meet. This event provided a challenging and competitive racing atmosphere for strong competitive swimmers as well as opportunities for new and developing competitive swimmers to participate in a swim meet in a safe and fun setting.
For their 55th Annual Fair Silent Auction in 2008, St. George’s raised funds to support clubs, sporting activities, technology enhancements, outdoor education, bursaries, and scholarships at St. George’s School. Body & Soul donated a gift certificate to the silent auction.
Little Flower Academy
Body & Soul donated a gift certificate to the Little Flower Academy Ad Lucem Gala silent auction. Funds raised went to the purchase of an interactive whiteboard technology.
St. John Ambulance
St. John Ambulance showed recognition and appreciation to their volunteers who donate hundreds of hours each year to local community and provincial events by providing first aid coverage to thousands of people. Body & Soul donated a gift certificate for a massage to their 2010 Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.
First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition
Funds raised at the First Call Annual Fundraising Dinner went towards helping First Call continue their work of focusing public and government attention on improving the health and well-being of BC’s children, youth and their families through their public education, community mobilization and policy advocacy. Body & Soul donated items to the auction.
In 2009, Body & Soul donated a gift certificate to the Finnegan Goes for Gold fundraising event. This event was held for the purpose of raising money towards enhancing the students’ education and experience at Vancouver College.
Canucks for Kids Fund and Special Olympics BC and Special Olympics BC Vancouver
Body & Soul donated auction items to the Sports Celebrities Festival; the event raised over $350,000. Support for this event allowed the Canucks for Kids Fund to assist charities which support children’s health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education throughout BC. It also helped continue Special Olympics BC’sprograms that support the growth and development of athletes from age two to 82, including several athletes who competed in the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
Salvation Army Community & Family Services - Adopt-A-Family Program
With the help of the Body & Soul team and our wonderful clients, Body & Soul was able to provide Vancouver families with some additional holiday spirit by donating toys, food, clothing and other Christmas gifts through the Salvation Army’s Adopt-A-Family Program. This program connects various people in the community (friends, families, businesses, etc.) with families in need. Over the past few years, Body & Soul, with the help of clients, has donated gifts, treats, and necessities to several families in need.
Point Grey Fiesta
Each year, the Point Grey Fiesta kicks off summer in Point Grey with a carnival at Trimble Park. The Fiesta is a neighbourhood event that encourages Point Grey sports, arts, social and business groups to share in a day of community activities. This is a wonderful family event and Body & Soul is proud to have donated auction items to this event for several years.
Tom Thumb Preschool
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to Tom Thumb Preschool’s9th Annual Barn Dance. The event enabled the preschool to continue providing enriched learning experiences for its students.
éliane Hair & Spa and Coveneant House BC
Located in the Point Grey area, éliane’s is a one of Vancouver’s finest hair salons and spas. eliane’s Glamour Night and Charity Auction raised funds for Covenant House BC Covenant House provides shelter for youth who have fled physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse, those who have been forced from their homes or those who have aged out of foster care. Body & Soul donated items to the event’s charity auction, which helped raise over $7000.
Canadian Transplant Association: BC Region
The Canadian Transplant Association’s – Gift of Life, Organ Donation Works 4th Annual Halloween Dance event raised awareness for organ donation and transplantation and to prove organ donation works. Funds raised at this event helped continue motivating transplant recipients to maintain a healthy lifestyle by encouraging them to participate in athletics and other events. Body & Soul donated a gift certificate to this event.
Make-A-Wish BC and Yukon and the Vancouver Hillel Foundation
In October, the CampusAuction’s Bid for a Better World event was held, providing individuals with an opportunity to purchase amazing products and services and vote for a non-profit to receive a portion of the proceeds. Body & Soul donated a gym package worth $475 to this great event.
ALS Society of BC & Yukon
The ALS Society raised funds at its 23rd Annual ALS Memorial Golf Tournament which were directed towards the Caregivers Day Series, designed to support people who are working hard to care for their loved one living with ALS. Body & Soul donated items to the event’s silent auction.
BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum
The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum’s 41st annual Banquet of Champions was a great success, raising $250,000. This money helped enable organizers to continue to deliver educational and community outreach programs and to continue to provide an exceptional level of guest experience. Body & Soul donated items to the auction.
University of British Columbia
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to the University of British Columbia’s Alumni Achievement Awards Silent Auction. This event recognized individuals for their work in things such as groundbreaking medical research and far-reaching social advocacy efforts.
West Point Grey Academy
West Point Grey Academy ignites the spirit of inquiry, creativity and exploration, and challenges their students to develop a passion for excellence. Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to their Reverse Draw at the 2005 West Point Grey Academy Gala.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Rockin’ for Research auction in both 2006 and 2009. These events allow JDRF to continue funding their pacesetting research to find a cure.
BC Cancer Foundation
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to the BC Cancer Foundation’s 2008 Inspiration Gala. Proceeds raised from this event went to help support brain cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.
Greater Vancouver Food Bank
Body & Soul, with the help of their clients, donated items to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s 2008 Holiday Food & Fund Drive.
CoRe Conflict Resolution Clinic
CoRe Conflict Resolution Clinic hosted an event in which funds raised went towards ensuring CoRe was able to continue offering low cost mediations to individuals and non profit organizations otherwise unable to afford such services. Body & Soul donated items to this event.
Heart & Stroke Foundation
The Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Ismaili Walk for Women event helped raise money for the Women’s Health Research Institute at B.C. Women’s Hospital (WHRI). Funds raised helped the WHRI improve health and healthcare for women throughout the province. Body & Soul donated items to this event.
Body & Soul raised money for the Children, Healthcare and Women’s Fall Membership Luncheon Silent Auction. Funds raised from this event went into supporting the Judy Mandleman Vancouver Daycare Centre-taking care of approximately 100 needy children. They raised $2000 at this event.
Buntain Insurance Agencies Ltd and Covenant House Vancouver
BC Dental Association
At their 2008 Toothfairy Gala, the BC Dental Association raised over $57,000 for the BC Cancer Agency’s Oral Oncology Department. Body & Soul donated items to the event auction.
WISH Drop-In Centre Society
Body & Soul made a donation to the WISH Drop-In Centre Society through Larainne Kaplan Connections. This donation went towards helping improve the lives of women working in the survival sex trade in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Body & Soul donated auction items to Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s 2007 Dinner Dance and Silent Auction. This event raised over $53,000 which went towards extra-curricular programs at the school.
Children's Wish Foundation
Body & Soul donated 5 personal training sessions to the Children’s Wish Foundation’s – A Celebration of Wishes’ Gala auction. All proceeds went towards granting wishes to children suffering from high risk life threatening illnesses.
General Gordon Elementary School
Body & Soul is happy to have contributed to General Gordon Elementary School’s 2006 Annual Spring Fling. This Kitsilano elementary school focuses their model of teaching on choice theory, ensuring that students better understand their own and others’ behaviour. Their thank-you note was extra special, having drawings by the kids themselves.
Hillel Vancouver is the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life. Body & Soul donated personal training sessions to the silent auction at their fundraising event – An Enchanted Evening in the Amazon – which took place on December 4, 2005.
Shooting Starts Foundation
Body & Soul was pleased to be part of the BAMBADO! Dinner and Auction which was held by the Shooting Stars Foundation on September 22, 2005. The Shooting Stars Foundation raises money to support community-based HIV/AIDS service agencies.
Face The World Foundation
Face The World Foundation provides funding for organizations that might otherwise be overlooked. Body & Soul is pleased to have contributed to this special charity on several occasions.
The Zajac Ranch is a summer camp for children with life-threatening illnesses. Body & Soul was happy to be involved with the 2005 Zajac Women’s Golf Tournament.
The Arthritis Society, BC and Yukon Division
Body & Soul was happy to support the Arthritis Society’s Bid for The Cure Gala in 2004 for the Arthritis Society of BC and Yukon.
Morgan Perrin, Canada National Team
Body & Soul sponsored Morgan Perrin, a member of the Canadian National Team, by providing personal training sessions to prepare him for various downhill skiing events in the Special Olympics. Body & Soul was Morgan’s proud sponsor from 2001 to 2009.
St. James Daycare
St. James Daycare is a non-profit daycare operating in the Kitsilano area. Body & Soul supported their fundraising efforts thorough the KidsGig Christmas Concerts and donating personal training sessions to their silent auctions.
Little Ark Preschool

Vancouver Child Study Centre
The Vancouver Child Study Centre’s curriculum is inspired by the thoughts, ideas, questions and theories of the children in the class. Body & Soul supported their fundraising through Silent Auctions.
Mediated Learning Academy
The Mediated Learning Academy is a new and innovative school for children from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Body & Soul contributed to their auction which raised funds to support their work with special needs children.
The Leo Awards honours the best and brightest film and television talent in British Columbia. Body & Soul was happy to lend its support by providing gift certificates for their silent auction.
Canadian Cancer Society
Body & Soul donated a 4 month gym membership to the Canadian Cancer Society’s 3rd annual golf tournament in memory of Dr. Mike Rasberry. This event raised $5500 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
