Employee benefits program

Body & Soul Health and Fitness Ltd. provides extended health & dental care, life insurance, travel plans, and employee assistance programs free of cost to the employee (see comprehensive package on separate document). Eligibility of the program begins after a 3-month probationary period and performance review during which time the employee works a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Sick pay

  • An employee is entitled to unpaid "Compassionate Leave" days (sick days) per year. However, Body & Soul will provide 5 paid sick days based on the discretion of management. Management reserves the right to request a medical document.
  • Leaving part way through a shift will not constitute a sick day.
  • Those who do not use their sick days will be allocated a ½ day bonus for each unused sick day (must be taken at Christmas).

Incentive Programs

1. A referral bonus will be administered on an individual basis at the discretion of management and will be administered at the time of employee reviews.

2. Any “in-studio” job postings or projects initiated by management and/or staff will be compensated on a case-by-case basis. Please follow the procedure below:

  • Direct all proposals in writing to Marla/Angela at “Head Office”.
  • A meeting will follow and, if viable, will be directed to the appropriate location or manager.
  • Marla/Angela will establish any budget allocation and timelines and the project administered by the Trainer.

3. Body & Soul strongly encourages continuing education and will assist employees in maintaining the highest possible standards and certifications whenever possible. In support of this, Body & Soul will, on a discretionary basis, subsidize a Trainer’s ongoing education. Some of these discretionary factors include job performance and contribution to the company, relevance to the health and fitness industry, and any budget constraints.

Criteria for Partial or Full Reimbursement:

  • Health and fitness related topic.
  • When appropriate, accredited by a recognized fitness body or post-secondary institution (i.e. BCRPA, ACE, IDEA, CSEP etc.)
  • Willingness to share knowledge and information gained to other staff in the form of a presentation, handouts, etc.
  • Provide copies of successful completion of course.
  • Maintenance of a minimum of 20 hours of training per week over the past 6 months.

Body & Soul will also provide on-site seminars, workshops, guest speakers, etc. throughout the year to aid in the continuing education process and to facilitate professional development.
